Back in August, I asked a question: Did this email arrive in YOUR inbox?

As an experiment, I wired up an entire Mailgun alternative – but missed the important question:
Did This Email Arrive In My Inbox?
Because the answer was...no.
Replies sent to that particular newsletter did not arrive in my inbox. In fact, they just ended up...nowhere.
While I was excited to get email sending working, I completely missed the fact that there was a second side of it: receiving.
I did some initial work to get that working as well, but then September happened – the most successful, but also busiest month for Magic Pages so far.
So, to wrap up the fun experiment of setting up my own email sending agent, I switched everything back to Mailgun here 😂
As a proof of concept, things did, in fact, work. I did send emails. In most cases, the emails arrived in your inboxes. I did miss the fact that I could not receive replies.
Would I recommend anyone looking for a Mailgun alternative to go down this route? Absolutely not.
